8th Grade Social Studies
In the 8th Grade, students explore the rich history of the United States from its origin as a country to the Civil War. Students identify the geographical regions and areas of the country as well as understand key political, social, and economic events.

Participation Grade (10% of grade):
Every week, each student receives up to 5 points per week for participation. Students participate in class by raising their hand and asking/answering a question or contributing to a discussion. Each student is expected to do this at least once during the week. Each student will start the week with 4 points. They need to participate at least once to earn the full 5 points. However, misbehavior such as talking out of turn, talking at an inappropriate time, or disrespect towards a classmate/teacher during class loses a point for every instance. The time/incident will be recorded to keep track of lost points. |
