7th Grade Social Studies
In the 7th Grade, students explore world civilizations from the year 500 to the 1600s. The themes and cultures that students will study are the fall of the Roman Empire, Islamic civilizations, Africa, Asia (China and Japan), Europe (Medieval Era to the Enlightenment), and the peoples and encounters of the Americas. We will learn about art, history, culture, geography, and religions.

Grading Breakdown:
10% Participation and Effort
20% Homework
30% Class Work (Lesson Activities, Do Nows, Group Work, Independent Work)

Participation Grade (10% of grade):
Every week, each student receives up to 5 points per week for participation.
Students participate in class by raising their hand and asking/answering a question or contributing to a discussion.
Each student will start the week with 4 points. They need to participate at least one time to earn the full 5 points. However, misbehavior such as talking out of turn, talking at an inappropriate time, or disrespect towards a classmate/teacher during class loses a point for every instance. The time/incident will be recorded to keep track of lost points.
